Textile Coating Binders

Textile Coating Binders—also known as water based coating resins—are crucial ingredients in value and performance formulations and mainly classify as Technical Textiles. Their primary role is to bind pigment or rather pigment emulsions/filler/ particles to the fabric, also act as binder to non-woven material such as nylon viscose by static disperse method or sprinkling method or commonly called flocking. The coating systems as commonly used for curtains as blackout fabrics as they are commonly called ensuring excellent adhesion and long-lasting colour fastness, opacity and anchorage after drying and curing. Once applied, the binder forms a flexible, continuous film that secures the pigment on the fabric surface while providing key performance benefits such as durability, wash resistance, softness, and elasticity. Without binders, pigments would fail to adhere properly, resulting in fading or washout. The type and quality of binder used significantly influence the fabric’s final appearance, flexibility, colour vibrancy, and durability—making them a vital component in both fashion as well as home furnishing and industrial and defence textile printing.
